The International Women's Day (IWD) 2025 celebration, organized by the Institute for Rural Sustainable Development (IRSD) in collaboration with SDB Bank, was successfully held on March 8, 2025, from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Auditorium (A), District Secretariat, Kandy.
The IRSD, in collaboration with MTI Group (USA), implemented a Cashew Planting Project at Muriyakadawala School, supported by Prabhath D Rajakaruna and Sarath Amarakoon, funding 200 cashew plants.
The IRSD, in collaboration with the Department of Cooperative Development – Central Province, has taken a groundbreaking step in establishing the Women Entrepreneurs Cooperative (WEC).
The Institute for Rural Sustainable Development (IRSD) has taken a pioneering step by initiating the establishment of an Entrepreneurial Women's Business Cooperative (EWBC). This cooperative aim to empower women entrepreneurs by providing resources, networking opportunities, and support to help them establish and grow their businesses.
Women entrepreneurs are business leaders who seek out new ideas and turn them into reality, driving economic growth and development. Entrepreneurship is one of the most vital components of economic advancement. As catalysts for change, women entrepreneurs create chain reactions that foster enthusiasm and contribute to overall economic development.
This project was initiated by IRSD to be implemented in Muriyakadawala village, located within the Thirappane Divisional Secretariat in the Anuradhapura District. It is a collaborative effort with SLASRO's Kandy District Forum and the Thirappane Divisional Secretariat.
