As an Advisor to the South Asian Women Development Forum (SAWDF), representing Sri Lanka, the Chairperson of the Institute for Rural Sustainable Development (IRSD), Mrs. Shirani Weerakoon, was honored to receive an invitation to attend the official launch of the FAME Project – Action and Mobilization for an Inclusive Economy.
This transformative initiative aims to empower over 1,000 women across Sri Lanka, fostering diversity, inclusion, and gender equality across six provinces. The launch event took place on January 28, 2025, at the Sapphire Ballroom, Marino Beach Hotel, Colombo 3, organized by the Ceylon Chamber of Women Entrepreneurs (CCWE).
The project focuses on advancing feminism, digitalization, sustainability, and LGBTQIA+ rights. Recognizing the vital role of women in the tourism industry, it also seeks to empower women entrepreneurs, enabling them to drive sustainable and inclusive economic growth in Sri Lanka.
This initiative is funded by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) of the French Government, in partnership with SAWDF and CCWE.
Mrs. Shirani Weerakoon extends her sincere gratitude to Mrs. Pramila Acharya Rijal, President of SAWDF, and Mrs. Shirly Jayawardhane, Chairperson of CCWE, for their invitation to this meaningful and impactful event.
